TASCAM Forums -> Effect Sends: "You have the vocal mic plugged into FW-1884 (let's say Channel #1)
You have an external effect unit that provides reverb, echo, whatever.
You'd like to record the vocal mic track dry but still be able to hear the
effect ( and possibly record the effect on a separate track from vocal) ???
The FW has a pre-AD converter SEND TRS/TS jack on each of the 8 channels.
Using the appropriate cable type (if effect unit has 3-connector balanced TRS , use
TRS cable, if just unbalanced TS, use TS cable) ,
connect cable between Channel #1 SEND output to the
INPUT of Effects unit.
If you are wanting to record the effects unit, connect cable between
Effects OUTPUT and the RETURN of FW Channel #1.
If you don't want to record the effects, connect to the input of FW Channel #2 -
Channel #2 will be the return from the Effects, which you can mix in with
the monitor signal, and then record it (or not) as you wish."
